About us
The A.V. Church of Christ was conceptualized in 2016 after careful observation and consideration of the demographics and dynamics of the Antelope Valley community. Thus, a decision to establish a congregation with a culture relative to the surrounding community appeared productive, pivotal, and paramount for declaring God’s word and making disciples in the area. Hence much prayer, discussions, reflection, study(s), and spiritual advice accredited the idea. After multiple confirmations from God, Samuel and Lakesha Hardy commenced organizing the A.V. Church of Christ in early 2017. The first worship service was held on April 30th, 2017, at 716 W. Oldfield St. in Lancaster, California (Jane Reynolds Park).
God provides for His plans; undoubtedly, He planned the A.V. Church of Christ ministry and has supplied its every need. One notable example is that God addressed an initial concern by providing a song leader providentially. God sent James Rogers (a former and long-time member of the Reseda Church of Christ) to fulfill the role. After attending the first worship service, James immediately embraced the responsibility of teaching and leading songs. He has done an outstanding job and now serves as the Minister of Music. Several churches (e.g., West Adams, La Puente, Compton, Crenshaw, and Figueroa churches of Christ) have assisted with financial contributions, prayers, and encouraging words, helping the A.V. congregation endure challenging times. The A.V. Church of Christ ministry has impacted many people and families through the commitment and service of every member.
Sam Hardy is the first minister of the A.V. congregation. At 12 years of age, he obeyed the gospel while attending the Normandie Church of Christ. His first sermonic presentation was on August 20th, 2005, as he eulogized his brother. After hearing brother Hardy give the eulogy, Kevin Bowers (Minister of the Figueroa COC) offered to relocate Sam and Lakesha to Texas and pay for his college education (Sam foolishly declined). Brother Sam later attended the Southern California School of Evangelism in Buena Park California (2007-2009). He holds a Bachelor’s (Biblical Studies), a Master’s (Divinity/Theology), and is currently a Doctoral (Bible Exposition) student. Brother Hardy is privileged to serve the A.V. congregation alongside his beautiful wife (Lakesha of 17 years) and their children (Sajoree, Zakye, and Azaree).
